ke aupuni o Hawai‘i nei ko Hawai‘i pae‘āina
We are the guardians. For generations, and over the past 60 years, we have been responsible for the physical maintenance and care of the grounds of State Monument Kūkaniloko Birthstones; and sharing the mo`olelo of this 36,000 acre kalana. The Friends of Kūkaniloko and Nā Wāhine Kunia ʻo Līhuʻe are rooted in the Hawaiian Civic Club of Wahiawā.
Mo‘olelo- traditional comprehension - reflects continuous preparation for the next seven generations. Every thought, word and deed has at its foundation: mālama ʻāina - respect the family, the land; mālama kilipue kūpuna ma - respect those whom we choose to follow; and mālama kanaka mauli - respect those who are centered by and through the spirit of aloha, the greatest truth of all. All this, in anticipation of those who have yet to come.
The past is always present, therefore, ALOHA is forever ... and FOREVER is the old way of our ancients. Our responsibility is to individually and collectively guard, educate, preserve, and perpetuate Kūkaniloko. Instilled in us is this wisdom of our ancients:
Mai ma nei...listen, so you can see. We the family of this land, Pu‘uhonua Kūkaniloko, consciously choose, without hesitation or doubt, "to guard the kapu of Kūkaniloko because we love them for all time..." for the next seven generations to come, and thereafter, and thereafter, and thereafter, FOREVER.
Here at Kūkaniloko.org we share with you the significant ancient and recent histories of this, one of the most sacred sites in all of the Hawai‘i Islands. The Hawaiian Civic Club of Wahiawā Nonprofit seeks to inspire, educate and encourage all things Hawaiian, seen and unseen. We include our current activities of HCCW through the Hawaiian Civic Club of Wahiawā...ʻAnoʻai newsletters published monthly from 2009 until present.
